Our group won the second prize at the Unsupervised and Transfer Learning Challenge! Three group members of our team 1055A are from the Data Mining Lab of Rutgers Business School. The challenge is part of the competition program of the IJCNN 2011 conference, San Jose, California, July 31 - August 5, 2011. A question of fundamental and practical interest in machine learning is addressed by this challenge: the assessment of data representations produced by unsupervised learning procedures, for use in supervised learning tasks.
